A rider doesn't have soft hands because she has control of her hands and arms.

A rider has soft hands because she have an independent seat.

A good rider is able to engage the core and balance in such a way, as to not interfere with the horse's movement. When this is achieved only then are you able to start asking questions of the horse.

Lungeline lessons can be a great tool in helping to develop the seat!
